Sgt Mike Darrah
has produced edition 2 of his Neighbourhood Newsletter. You can

Many thanks for all of those
that attended the NAG/NW meeting in the Memorial Hall as well as those that completed
the Community Consultation Questionnaire.
Steve Parker, has now
looked at the results from that evening as well as all the
questionnaires that have been handed back and we are now in a
position to reveal the 3 Priorities for next year:
1. Anti Social Driving
2. Anti Social Behaviour
3. Burglary
The Neighbourhood Action
Group will now start work on those Priorities.
 |
An example of the
anti social behaviour seen in the last year was the
arson committed on the Tennis club shed in the
recreation ground that was totally destroyed. There have
been many other incidents in the recreation ground
involving the new play equipment, the lights and the
fence. |
Anti Social Driving is a
priority and residents will play a key role in tackling this
particular priority. Section 59 (Warning) and Section 60
(Seizure) of the Police Reform Act 2002.
Section 59 relates to
vehicles used in a manner which causes alarm, distress or
annoyance. If any car is reported to the police as contravening
this section - by any resident - the police can issue a warning
notice. The warning notice is recorded under the car
registration number on the Police national Computer - PNC. The
second time any report is received from a member of the public,
the police have the power to seize that vehicle under Section 60
!
This is were we residents
come in. The section is invoked by a member of the
public. Time, date, location and cause of annoyance. It relies
upon an initial and then subsequent complaint, by members of the
public.
Marc is producing a handy
advice sheet explaining S. 59 and I will send it out as soon as
it is completed. You - the residents have said this is your
joint No. 1 priority. Now you will have the opportunity to do
something about it by working closely with the police.
If you were unable to attend the
meeting and you would like to see part of the Police presentation
then you can see it
here. Please note that this is a Powerpoint presentation so you
will need that on your computer to view it.
If you
do not have Powerpoint then you can download a free program to view
Powerpoint presentations at

Please
note that the minutes may be edited to preserve the confidential
nature of some Police operations. To put
these in print would defeat the attempts of the Police to do their
job properly. It should also be noted that the Old Windsor NAG is an
unfunded group run by volunteers asked to help by the Thames Valley
Police Force. It is a communication group between Old Windsor and
the Police to help maintain law and order in Old Windsor and
is part of a multi agency group charged with addressing the
priorities determined by a village meeting in July 2007.
If you have local
issues that you would like presented to the Police at these meetings
then please use the Contact Us link on the left and we will
endeavour to do this for you.
For emergencies please
call 999 or for other problems that may need Police Attention
use 08458 505 505. Always ask for a Unique Reference Number.
